Season 2 Coming Soon to a Park Near You!

Well we did it… 8 Movie Nights, truckloads of popcorn, refreshing Binnewater each week (thank you George!), the great outdoors, the not so great mosquitoes, back aches, and humidity. We did it!! Most important hundreds of kids and families came out each week, enjoyed our parks and forged some good memories for a whole new generation of Kingston kids. Check back as we plan Season 2 and let us know what movies you want to see and where.

Superman Rescheduled: August 24 – Former Kings Inn Lot, 615 Broadway

Give it up for Movies Under the Stars Volunteers who stuck it out well into the night to try to take on the bad guys (well actually the weather), but in the end had to pack up just before 6pm – too late to move indoors and too wet to continue! But never fear, the Green Crystal has been found and the Fortress of Solitude has again been rebuilt- This Friday, August 24th we will be back in the fight, and this time we know the good guys are going to win. Starting at 6:30 we will have music and food thanks to Joe Beez and our good Friends at Savon Party Central will be providing us with a cotton candy and snow cone machine again. Popcorn from Queens Galley & the Junior League and ice cold water thanks to Binnewater. Then at 8:30 we will present Superman so get ready to party like a Superhero – costumes optional. And don’t forget to pick up your Movies Under the Stars T-shirt while supplies last to make your summer movie experience complete. Just $5 or $3 for those wearing their Superman gear.

Who’s Ready to Party like a Super-hero?

Kingston Parks Movies Under the Stars Presents: Ending Celebration on Broadway between Field Court & Henry Streets followed by Superman, the classic 1978 original, this Friday, August 17 screened at the newly renovated Kings Inn Lot located at 615 Broadway. Broadway between Field Court and Henry will be closed to traffic beginning at 6:00pm – then get ready for Superman at 8:30pm.

To end this amazing summer of fun we have a finale celebration that will be SUPER!!! Bouncy house, food vendors, balloons and face painting, musical performance by Julio Jackson and a live DJ, as well as some special performances by some talented local youth groups.

Parking available on Broadway and on-street in the area and additionally the Cornell St. Municipal Lot but please consider grabbing a Trolley to ease parking congestion. Bus Service available on a revised schedule beginning at 5:15pm and again at 6:15pm. Stops include: Kingston Plaza – by MAC, Governor Clinton, Stuyvesant Hotel, Brigham Housing, Colonial Gardens, Wiltwick Gardens, Yosmin Towers, Springbrook Village/Broadway East, Rondout Gardens, Golden Hill by advance request – para-transit.

And this will be your final chance to purchase your official “Movies Under the Stars” T-shirt for just $5. Anyone coming with a Superman logo T-shirt can get theirs for just $3.00, while supplies last!!

The Show WILL Go On! UP Moved to Midtown Rec

Due to rain, the movie tonight: Disney’s UP has been moved to the Midtown Recreation Center located at 467 Broadway. Parking is available at the municipal lot next to Monkey Joe’s and on-street. Popcorn provided by Queens Galley and the Jr. League, ice cold water compliments of Binnewater, and free hot dogs from the Salvation Army will all still be provided.

Keith Bennett’s Karate Academy will do an interactive program beginning at 7:30 and the movie will start at 8:30pm. Grab a lawn chair or blanket and come early to get a comfy spot – the Wilderness Must be Explored!

The Wilderness Must be Explored: UP coming to Hasbrouck Park, Aug. 10

This week on Friday, August 10th we present Academy Award nominated Up at Hasbrouck Park just off Delaware Ave beginning at 8:30pm. Up is the story of an old man by the name of Mr. Fredrickson who finds a new lease on life after meeting a young “Wilderness Explorer,” Russell. “The wilderness must be explored! CA-CA! RAAWWRR!” A genuine love story that both kids and adults will enjoy, it will make you cry and it will make you laugh so hard you will cry some more. Come early to get a good spot and learn a bit of Wax on, Wax off with Karate Master Keith Bennett beginning at 7:30pm. Each week we are pleased to provide free popcorn compliments of Queens Galley/Cooking Matters and the Junior League, ice cold bottled spring water from our friends at Binnerwater, and the Salvation Army dishes up free hot dogs and lemonade. All of this programming is made possible by the wonderful volunteers of Kingston Parks Movies Under the Stars, including a great team from United Healthcare. Official Movies Under the Stars T-shirts will be available for just $5.

The film will be shown by the ball field in Upper Hasbrouck near the pavilion. If you come, bring a lawnchair or a blanket and this week you should carry a flashlight. Parking will be available within the park, but the best way to get there will be the Citibus Jitney Trolley, making stops across the city beginning at 6:30pm and 7:30pm. And if you missed the chocolate extravaganza that accompanied Willy Wonka, never fear. There are still 3 cases of candy bars left that will be available first come, first served!!
