Kingston Parks "Movies Under the Stars"

Coming to a Park Near You…

Kingston Parks Movies Under the Stars is pleased to announce that the equipment has arrived!  After a final scramble for financial support, the real work of planning logistics for each week will now begin in earnest.  Each week we will need 14-18 volunteers to help with parking, staffing informational tables, and set-up/tear down.  In the next several weeks we need lots of help distributing storefront movie posters and postcards all around town.  Call Jen Fuentes at 845.332.6600 if you are able to help.

From a simple idea fleshed out over the Thanksgiving table, a project was born.  Students from a local school designed our logo, we bowled, we partied like rock stars with the help of many talented area musicians, we auctioned with the help of area businesses, and we raffled…  We are proud of this campaign and the thousands -yep thousands of people – who have chipped in to bring back a wonderful Kingston tradition of outdoor movies and will help us celebrate the natural beauty of our stunning local parks.  Visit our “about” page for a listing of the Movies Under the Stars Committee and give them a well deserved thanks.  In addition to a great committee that has been working their hearts out each week for months, it’s important to recognize the fabulous community and business sponsors that made this all possible.

Now that the raffle is complete we are down to our final month of fundraising to make our summer movie series a success.  Sponsorships and project donations are still gratefully being accepted.  The movies licensing and equipment is paid for and now we are working on the not so exciting, but necessary, final touches like port-a-potties, printing expenses, etc.  Many thanks to Mohonk Golf Course and Mariner’s Harbor/Little Italy for donating prizes.
